[Five in One Tutorial!!]

Its good, but the concept is really overdone

Now, I read over the other reviews for this tutorial, and some were very far above what this deserves, and some who voted 0 and 1 were simply going dramatically below rationality. This isn't a great tutorial. What this amounts to is you explain basically nothing when it comes to codes, so this won't help anyone learn actionscript and I think thats why you got a lot of the bad reviews and low votes, there are plenty of places to get someone to tell you to copy this and put it into the actions frame, but there aren't NEARLY enough actually explaining the script and producing a deep and meaningful product. You tutorial on basic graphic elements is OK, but ultimatly very, very average. This tutorial is really a little bit above average, because the scripts you give out are kind of nice, and and you go over conceptual elements very lightly.

[Quiz Collection]

Nothing particularly great, but theres alot here.

Well, first of all, this is going to get MUCH worse reviews and scores than it deserves, because Newgrounds is Flash, so people on Newgrounds will go to the flash quiz first, and the button for it was broken. That will hurt you alot. I right clicked to get by, and the Flash quiz was ok, it wouldn't really chalenge someone with a background in it. It was kind of fun when I took the quizes for PHP and HTML which I don't know that much about.

Frankly, this quiz won't really teach you anything and it won't challenge the user. But it was kinda fun and entertaining, and the programming section was pretty cool, but not great.

I would appreciate another one, just make sure all the buttons work and improve the questions and content.

Good technical tutorial, bad conceptual one.

I have to say that this tutorial has very nice graphics and very good use of screenshots, but your explination of why the user is doing something is rather limited. And you basically just give the user codes for a button and don't explain them, which Im sure n00bs see enough of. What you should do to make a more effective tut is to focus on more detailed explination, if its for n00bs who need to learn how to get inside an MC, maybe a lesson on hierarchies and why to use MovieClips or buttons or symbols at all is due. You've got the graphics, but the content needs work. :)

Picard PWNS!

Star Trek is awesome. In fact the next Generation is the greatest TV show of our time. This is great. Captain Picard is the best Captain except Kirk is the classic and no matter what anyone says I say that the best actor ever born is William Shatner with Patrick Stewart as a close no.2

Best GAME EVER, an INSTANT CLASSIC

Dude, this is like so addicitve. This is like the best flash I've ever seen or its up there. Its a little bit challenging. The graphics are really effective, and so is the music. The gameplay is great. Im really glad you finished it, Al.

Brilliant

I love it. Four great ideas. They're just reall unrefined and need alot of work. This needed alot more time. But I still love it. The mouse game is the best. Its actually quite fun.

[Action Scripts Tutorial 1]

I am a beginner at making Flash. Your tutorial is so unique and brilliant because it doesnt just throw code at you (which is ok) but it deals with the conceptual elements of scripting, which is very valuable. You have very muched helped me in my pursuit to produce quality Flash products.

Great ideas, but core gameplay falls short

This is a good game. The game is a fantastic parody of Zelda, the enviroments are well done, however the gameplay of walking around the town trying to trade objects is simply too dull and boring to live up to the quality of the other elements. Maybe some more depth would help, and some variety. However I appreciate your effort and the game was a fun challenge, I hope that you continue to produce quality product for this site in the future.

[Super Marco, Level 005]

A quality game, but not a classic

This game is a well polished game released by an experienced, thoughtful, and creative developer. The gameplay is clearly above average, however it lacks the strong addictive quality that the truly great games like Alien Hominid have. The game has a good amount of character, and it is sure to be delight to fans of metal slug and Mario (of which I am the latter). The game also lacks the definitivly great story or humor that made Littlefoot and the such instant classics. This is a great game, however it is not one of the best. I feel that the developer of this game has the potential and initiative to produce a game that stands on the level of Alien Hominid and others of its stature.

Thanks for the review, the thing is that i'm still in the learning progress. I started on making my own jump and run code 2 years ago, now i know pretty much actionscript and will perhaps create my own characters and game which then will hopefully become a classic =) see ya
